What is KEL?
KEL “Kredi elèv Lekòl” is the guarantee for a future by the youth for the youth and with youth. “KEL” has a common goal of rebuilding the country of Haiti with the youth at the helm. KEL partners with the youth that want a to see a positive outcome in their communities, through their behavior and actions. Young people who advocate hope and who believe in humanitarian values, such as: respect, love, freedom, peace, justice, equity, tolerance, having a sense of responsibility, honesty and loyalty.

Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser at the First Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations, held in 2008 in Madrid, Spain, said that: “By investing in youth, we are investing in the security of our nations, and only secure and confident nations can build alliances based on mutual respect and common goals.

The Objectives of KEL
1) Promote committed and credible youth, while teaching them the doctrine of “CLA” (Civility, Leadership and Empowerment).
2) Systematically implement new, innovative tools and programs capable of facilitating access to quality guidance and training services.
3) Introduce young people, very early, to the notions of practical life, while respecting the law and social conventions, while promoting the objectives of sustainable development and contributing to solving the problems arising from climate change.
4) Undertake the purchase, sale (in cash and on credit) and the production of goods “agricultural commodities in rural areas”; and, generally, to carry out all commercial, financial, movable and real estate transactions that may be directly or indirectly related to the corporate purpose of the company and likely to facilitate its development.
5) Carry out all the preceding operations or one or more of them, on its own behalf and on behalf of third parties, either alone or by person or groups of intermediaries.
6) To be able to import, export, rent, buy, all the buildings necessary for the achievement of its goals, to take all the decisions related to its interests and to create new companies by means of contributions and other titles.
7) Collaborate with the parents of these minor members, local and international partners, the private sector, donor agencies, governments and civil society in order to create synergy aimed at achieving the targeted objectives.
8) Fight against poverty and marginalization, support micro-enterprises and income-generating activities by helping groups of young people to obtain loans and loan guarantees, encourage and mentor young people in the solidarity and social economy and to accompany them to cross the doors of the universities and complete their cycle of studies there.
9) Help young people get involved in the service of peace, security and humanitarian action.
10) Promote solidarity, social cohesion, living together between young people, their families and their human environment and above all achieve gender equity.
KEL’S MISSION
The vision of KEL (Kredi Elèv Lekòl) is to model and engender a strong, credible, and committed new generation with the goal of building a New Haiti.
